Karen Hale-Jackson is a self-taught artist. The only formal training she has had in art is secondary level 1 year at College in Canada. Karen started her art career doing batik paintings. She has also worked with ceramics for a few years before joining the corporate world. In 2000, in her free time, she started painting in water colours and showed her work for the first time in the “Women In Art” Exhibition July of that year. This led to her work being shown in many exhibitions.
Her first large exhibition was in 2002 when she shared a show with her sisters, Susan Hale and Pat Yee Foon. That was the beginning of a number of successful joint exhibitions with various artists. In 2016 Karen had her first solo exhibition. Karen paints local sceneries, houses, people, flora, etc. She is presently fulfilling her lifelong dream of being a full time artist and especially enjoys doing work by commission as she knows that the piece she is working on means something special to someone.
