Johnathan is a painter and amateur photographer with experience in graphic design. To him, creative expression is a way of leaving behind a tangible legacy and creating an impact through imagery that transcends words.
His formal training in Visual Arts began at Hillview College, where he earned a distinction in CSEC Visual Arts in 2012. Now at the University of Pennsylvania, he is candidate for Mechanical Engineering and Applied Mechanics while pursuing a minor in fine arts.
He has a keen interest in photorealism and surrealism, being influenced by Trinbagonian masters such as Jean-Michel Cazabon, Karen Sylvester, Peter Sheppard and internationally acclaimed artists such as Jeremy Geddes, Zaria Forman and Eloy Morales.
His aesthetic philosophy is currently inspired by the music of romantic-era composers Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, Gustav Mahler and Max Bruch. He aims to create a contradicting sense of high drama and tranquility in a dream world rife with subtle social commentary. In a strong desire to depart from strictly representational works, he is slowly experimenting with surrealist elements in images containing vast expanses of clouds and/or water.
