The "KYRIE ELEISON" is a pre-Christian expression used frequently in Christian liturgy. This Greek expression translates roughly to "Lord Have Mercy". This aquatic inspired exhibition is the culmination of the artist's experiences abroad during the first year of his tertiary studies. It is an expression of chaos, turbulence, resilience and adaptation in both the society of Trinidad and Tobago, and for him personally as a Trinidadian adapting to life in the United States.
The exhibition is backed and sponsored by the Art Society of Trinidad and Tobago (ASTT) as Johnathan’s prize for winning Best In Show at its May 2015 Members’ Group Exhibition. Johnathan is the first to win this initiative put on by the ASTT to showcase its emerging artists who have demonstrated immense potential.
